Subscribtion Scammers Alert!
Today, I went to answer the door. It is to my credit to be hospitable to any guest. Apparently, this coalition was involved with raising job credits. The credits issued to create work were derived by a number or point system assigned to each subscription.
How to spot a scammer?
Sometimes, these quick change artists have a few tricks to gain personal information.
1) Never give out your personal and private information.
Always good to have a refresher.
2) Avoid spending time staring at any media.
Media distractions are the first folly you're going to endure. Clipboards containing fake signatures of people who already contributed. I noticed it was filled out in the same scribe, listing point number in astronomical territory. It had to have been 1200 points. I noticed after scanning the material over for several seconds, the subscriptions earned 20-80 credits. No citizen would sign up 7-12 magazines. Seriously, come on! I cannot keep up with the three I already have.
3) Ask to be followed up by e-mail.
Sure, I like free subscriptions too. I only subscribe with voucher. Sometimes, I end up hating my subscriptions. If they are manually collecting personal information, do not give anything away. With the benefit of internet, this will keep out the middle man.
Watch out for some appeal to force tactics.
Just because your neighbors give you entitlement in subscribing, doesn't mean you have to fall inline.
I do not have, a Blackberry, a Computer. If your working for a modern organizations, you have a website. I am sorry, get a library card.
