First Solar Achieves Grid Parity!
The holy grail is to reach grid cost per Kilowatt Hour parity with dirty energy. If the threshold of $1 dollar per watt is broken, we will reach a new wave of green technology. Of course this whole system would only work off a commercial scale. Depending on where you live, the residential cost can be in the low 10's of dollars even as high as $17 dollars per watt, if you have a complicated system using batteries. By no means is this competitive. But according to Michael Brune of RainForest Action Network, the cost of clean coal technology is hovering in the ball-park of $17 dollars a watt. Good to know, if you want to modify your house with clean-coal, ha! We are at the cusp of green change, so keep an eye out for First Solar and their endevors!
