Drill. Drill. Drill.
Maybe the figure-heads in Washington need a lobotomy but when they screw the pooch the environment is going to suffer. It really is no secret that the Alberta Tar Sands, the projects of Oil Shale in Central North America are the only solution to our addiction to Oil.
Nobody really knows, but we do get over half our oil from Canada. Nothing about the middle east is really about our addiction to oil. Profits maybe, but the fact is, projects are undergoing major changes. The North Atlantic fields operated by BP is where a lot of our Oil came from. Who knows, they might be tapped out, but they are nodding and smiling at consumers. Bought fuel lately?
New incentives are bring the production of carbon fuels into MOCK gear. Tar Sands, Liquid Coal, and Oil Shale to name a few. The Tar Sands are not the best choice, since they are "SOUR CRUDE," which is rich in sulfur, yum! A lot more energy goes into refining than actual energy retrieved. Don't quote me on this 'statistic' but it seems more energy goes into producing Tar Sand Oil than comes out as a result. Hmph, I know a if I asked fifth grader.... If i buy a box of Paper for $10 dollars, and I want to sell it back. But it is only worth $5 Dollars, did I make a good transaction? Give me the money, I can spend half of it and get nothing done too!
Tar sands oil emits up to three times the greenhouse gases in the production process per barrel as conventional oil production. Our cities are asking for environmentally sustainable energy and not fuels from dirty sources such as tar sands. We don’t want to spend taxpayer dollars on fuels that make global warming worse.
On the other hand, they are taking steps to rationalize what a carbon footprint really is. They intent to regulate the production of carbon fuels to have accurate numbers. I am sorry but they can take there liquid energy and send it to Alaska, they have enough oil. Opps! We'll see if that is on the agenda next.
Liquid Coal isn't much better. Some short term processes like Algae scrubbers could eat Carbon from Coal Plants, but this is still a decade out.
This is lose-lose folks! Buckle up, because nobody is taking energy responsibility. At least very few are at the top of the chain. More Here!
