Google Reduces Carbon FootPrint with Tidal Energy

Google in another move has taken stesp to reduce the carbon-foot-print of the Internet. They plan on having barges of the cost of nations that will serve as information hubs for the internet. They referred to them as "water-based date centres" that would use tidal power to power themselves. The article goes on to say that google patents many ideas and this might be another fantasy, but these are some innovative steps being taken by a leader of business.

Some statistics for fun, in 2005 data centers used 1 percent of the worlds electricity. By 2020 the carbon footprint of the internet will be greater than the air travel industry. Talk about saving trees to burn some more coal! The barges will be place and put across paths predetermined to construction. The barges are a fence that are stationary similar to a dam. We have seen tidal plants that work of flaps, but this method is very simple.

A project leader in the industry is "Severn Tidal Fence group," is in charge of project in the British Isles. Large turbines will be placed into the water. They will be spaced adequately enough as not to interfere with shipping traffic. A project costing $7 Billion (US) will create 8000-13000 jobs on this project. The cost of a barge system is different from the cheaper fence application.
